York House School has a long-term commitment to learning about Truth and Reconciliation. This is a learning process for us as a school. We approach this work with intention, ongoing learning, and reflection. We strive to include First People’s cultures, languages, worldviews, and knowledge within the curriculum in decolonizing ways, and to deepen education about First People’s principles in our curricular, professional development, and institutional practices.
We look forward to sharing more on our journey of Truth and Reconciliation with you.
Land Acknowledgement
With respect, we acknowledge that the land on which we learn, play, and work is the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territories of the Coast Salish Peoples, including the territories of the xwməѲkwəyəm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and Səlílwəta/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. At large gatherings we endeavour to share a land acknowledgement and invite students and adults to reflect on the purpose and educational significance of such acknowledgements.
