Athletics

Teamwork, physical literacy, leadership, and sportsmanship
Teamwork, hard work, and commitment are a few of the core values that students learn through their participation in the YHS Athletics Program.
In the Junior School, our student-athletes build their physical literacy with a focus on fun, general athletic development (skills, strength, flexibility, speed, and endurance), and the values of sport. As we aim for maximum participation from our Junior School students, we have teams that can accommodate all athletes. Junior Tigers participate in events organized by the Independent School Elementary Athletics (ISEA) association and community clubs.

In the Senior School, our athletes learn about hard work, teamwork, and commitment to their team. Playing for an extracurricular athletics team helps them develop sport-specific skills as well as provides opportunities for them to build character through healthy competitive and supportive athletic experience.

Senior School teams compete with schools in the Lower Mainland Independent Secondary School Athletic Association (LMISSAA), in the Vancouver Sea to Sky Zone (VS2S), as well as with independent and public high schools all across BC. Our senior teams also take part in Independent Schools Association (ISA) tournaments. Our teams routinely enjoy success at all levels and many student athletes go on to participate in Canadian U Sports and NCAA athletics.
